SUMMARY

Basil essential oil is a highly concentrated aromatic oil extracted from the leaves and sometimes the flowering tops of the basil plant (Ocimum basilicum). Basil essential oil is sourced from the aromatic herb known as Ocimum basilicum, a plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Basil is native to warm regions of Asia and Africa, but it is now cultivated in various parts of the world for its culinary and medicinal uses. The essential oil is sourced through steam distillation of the basil leaves and flowering tops.
