Castor Oil

INCI

Ricinus Communis Seed (Castor) Oil

SUMMARY

Castor oil is a thick, viscous oil sourced from the seeds of the castor plant (Ricinus communis). Castor oil is used in skincare products for its moisture-rich and emollient properties. It can help soften and hydrate skin which makes it desirable in products like creams, lotions and lip balms. Castor oil is also used in cleansers and makeup removers because of its ability to dissolve makeup and impurities.

ORIGIN

Castor oil is sourced from the seeds of the castor bean plant, scientifically known as ricinus communis. It's native to Eastern Africa but is now cultivated in various regions around the world for its oil.

SKIN TOLERANCE

Castor oil is generally well-tolerated on skin and considered safe for most, but it can cause skin irritation in some.
