INCI
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil
SUMMARY
Coconut oil is a natural oil that's extracted from the meat or kernel of coconuts. Coconut oil is commonly used in various skincare products like body creams, body lotions, lip balms and hair conditioners because of its natural emollient and hydrating properties. It's also found in some sunscreens, massage oils and as a base for homemade skincare remedies like facial masks or scrubs.
ORIGIN
Coconut oil is primarily sourced from the meat or kernel of coconuts, which are the fruits of the coconut palm tree (cocos nucifera). These trees are native to tropical regions like parts of Southeast Asia, India, the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean. The extraction process involves crushing or pressing the coconut meat to extract the oil. Coconut oil production is prevalent in regions where coconuts are grown in abundance and have been used in skincare practices in these areas for centuries.
SKIN TOLERANCE
Coconut oil is generally well-tolerated on most skin, but it may cause sensitivities or breakouts in some.
