SUMMARY

Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) sourced from sugarcane and other sources. It's renowned for its effectiveness in skincare because of its small molecular size, which allows it to penetrate skin easily. Glycolic acid is widely used in skincare products to remove dead skin cells, improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promote a brighter and more youthful complexion. It serves as an active ingredient in formulas like exfoliating cleansers, toners, serums, masks and chemical peels is especially popular in products that target fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and acne.

Glycolic acid is generally sourced from natural sources including sugarcane, although it can also be created in laboratories.

SKIN TOLERANCE

Glycolic acid can be tolerated well by most, but may cause irritation and redness, particularly in higher concentrations or for individuals with sensitive skin, so it's important to use caution and follow product instructions.
