PFAS

INCI

PFAS or perfluoroalkyl substances are a group of synthetic chemicals that are not generally used as ingredients in cosmetics or skincare products. Therefore, there is no specific INCI code for PFAS in the context of skincare or cosmetics.

SUMMARY

PFA are a group of synthetic chemicals known for their water- and oil-repellent properties. PFA are not commonly used in skincare products or cosmetics because of concerns about their safety and potential health risks. Their use in personal care products is generally discouraged or regulated in many countries because of their persistence in the environment and potential adverse effects on health. Efforts are underway to restrict the use of certain PFA compounds and find safer alternatives in consumer products like cosmetics and skincare.

ORIGIN

PFA are synthetic chemicals created through the fluorination of organic compounds and do not originate from natural sources like plants, animals or minerals.

SKIN TOLERANCE

PFA compounds are not generally used in skincare or cosmetic products because of concerns about their safety and potential health effects.
