Retinol

INCI

Retinol

SUMMARY

Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is a popular ingredient used primarily in anti-aging products because of its ability to stimulate collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin texture. Retinol is also included in formulas created to treat acne, minimize the appearance of pores and promote overall skin renewal. Retinoids can be grouped into different types based on their chemical structure and strength. Some common retinoids include retinol, retinaldehyde, retinoic acid (tretinoin), adapalene and tazarotene.

ORIGIN

Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is created in laboratories for use in skincare products and is not directly sourced from natural ingredients.

SKIN TOLERANCE

The tolerance of retinol on skin varies. It's recommended that users start with lower concentrations and gradually increase use to reduce irritation and redness. Sunscreen is also recommended during use because of increased sensitivity to the sun.
