Sodium Chloride

INCI

Sodium Chloride

SUMMARY

Sodium chloride, commonly known as table salt, is a naturally occurring mineral compound composed of sodium and chlorine ions. While it's most known for its role as a seasoning in food, sodium chloride is commonly used in skincare products like scrubs, body exfoliants and bath salts. In these formulas, it serves as an exfoliating agent that helps to slough off dead skin cells and promote smoother skin texture. It’s also found in bath products to improve the sensory experience and create a refreshing and invigorating bath soak.

ORIGIN

Sodium chloride or table salt, is a naturally occurring mineral found in large deposits worldwide. It's sourced through the evaporation of seawater or the mining of underground salt deposits.

SKIN TOLERANCE

Sodium chloride is generally well-tolerated on skin, but its abrasive nature in the form of large salt crystals can be harsh on sensitive or damaged skin, so its use as an exfoliating agent should be approached with caution.
