Sodium Laureth Sulfate
INCI
SUMMARY
Sodium laureth sulfate or SLES, is a surfactant and foaming agent commonly used in personal care and cleaning products. Sodium laureth sulfate is commonly used in a variety of skincare like facial cleansers, body cleansers and shampoos, to create a rich lather and effectively remove dirt, oils and impurities from skin or hair. It’s valued for its cleansing properties, but it can be a potential skin irritant for some individuals, especially those with sensitive or dry skin and it has been a subject of debate that concerns its safety in certain formulas. Because sodium laureth sulfate can be harsh on skin, some individuals may prefer sulfate-free alternatives in their skincare routines.
