Vitamin A

INCI

Retinyl Palmitate

SUMMARY

Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin whose derivatives like retinol and retinoids are used to address a range of skin concerns. Vitamin A derivatives are particularly valued in anti-aging formulas for their ability to stimulate collagen production, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve overall skin texture. Vitamin A derivatives are also used in products that target acne and hyperpigmentation because of their exfoliating properties.

ORIGIN

Vitamin A is found in a wide range of animal sources including eggs and dairy products, as well as plant-based sources including carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach and kale.

SKIN TOLERANCE

The tolerance of vitamin A, particularly its derivatives like retinol or retinoids, on skin varies. It's recommended that users start with lower concentrations and gradually increase use to reduce irritation and redness. Sunscreen is also recommended during use because of increased sensitivity to the sun.
